COX Harley Davidson

Description

Harley Davidson uses a small group of architects for product branding. Here at Cox's, located in Rock Hill, SC, Kubala Washatko Architects presented the owner with a striking and unique design. MCA took these conceptual drawings and, using our technical expertise and knowledge of local building codes, created a cohesive and technically sound set of documents from which the building was constructed. The site design, in addition to being prominently positioned at Interstate 77 and Galleria Boulevard, includes large gathering spaces for outdoor events and a future riding course.

Seen here are the main entrance into the showroom and a portion of the outdoor event space. Also see are a myriad of materials (concrete, wood, aluminum curtain wall glazing and metal roofing) all coming together in one place. This type of condition places paramount importance on waterproofing design and a clear set of documents depicting it. First, we work in a collaborative way with the branding architects to minimize the potential for moisture intrusion, then use our expert knowledge, detailing and construction observation to ensure a waterproof building.
